YOUR CHILD'S TEETH: WHAT YOU MUST KNOW

Hello readers, the blog is a little late today. I just got time to write. Anyways.. today's blog is about your little one and dental health. Some advices to keep those tiny white pearls all healthy and sound until they are replaced by the permanent chompers :D
During my house job, I saw so many kids with poor dental hygiene and parents becharay lacking the general know how so I'm sure this post will benefit both. :)

1) never let LO sleep with a bottle:
This I see alot. Babies with total teeth destruction. Uncountable cavities and as soon as you dive in the history.. There it is.. The child sleeps with the bottle in mouth. Obviously it's easier for the parent to hand the bottle to the child in the middle of the night and the child also prefers sleeping with one in the mouth but this is a BIG NO. Please avoid this.. and if present break this habit. The milk is high on sugar and all through the night the sugary milk in the mouth attracts the bacteria.. causing cavities.

2) No fizzy drinks after brushing:
This point is for kids and adults both. Avoid drinking any fizzy drinks immediately after brushing.. that's when the tooth surface is the most vulnerable for acid attack. This can lead to enamel wear.. causing sensitivity. And anyways.. Please avoid giving these sugary drinks to kids.

3) Fissure Sealants:
I personally love this product. Let me give you a little background. The most cavity prone teeth are your molars, also the permanent ones erupt when your around 6 years (1st molars) and so you want to really take care of them. The most cavity prone area on the molars??? The fissures.
These are those tiny black lines you see on the top of your molars. Cavity usually behind from here.. as food particles get trapped here(minuscule) and they are hard to clean. So.. what does a fissure sealant do...? It blocks the fissures. . Seals them. . And smoothens them so that you can easily clean them. :) and nothing gets stuck in them. Best time to get these for little ones is when the permanent molars erupt. . 6-7 yrs old.

4) Avoid sticky sugars:
Every Child loves sweet. Candies and toffees and chocolates etc. But the most harmful sugar is the sticky kind. It is difficult to remove and thus causes cavities more. Avoid giving such sugars to your child. If you have to.. Atleast make them brush afterwards properly. (Remember best time to brush is within 15-20 min of eating something like this).

5) Bruxism:
Also knows as "daant peesna". If you notice your child grinds his/her teeth during sleep. Take her to a gp just for evaluation but also to a dentist to save those teeth. The dentist will evaluate the case and maybe make a night guard. . Which the child will need to wear in order to save the teeth surfaces. This problem is also present in adults.. and the remedy for teeth is the same.. night guard. Otherwise you'll end up with sensitivity. . Worn off tooth surface etc.

Hoping I help you guys in some way. :)
Remember to take care of your whites because they are the reason behind that perfect smile :)
Keep smiling lovelies.

Dr. Mom Chef xx
